Planning initiative submitted for Sildpollnes

After more than two years of dialogue, negotiation and planning, Arctic Circle Group via Sildpollnes Resort AS has taken over Sildpollnes Sjøcamp, several surrounding properties and much of the undeveloped land on the headland, and has submitted a planning initiative to Vågan municipality. The aim is a destination that both residents and visitors can enjoy, developed with respect for the history, nature and culture of the place.

Holding the properties together allows the headland to be developed as one whole. This is not a project about building as much as possible, but about making one of Lofoten's most beautiful places more accessible, more attractive and more alive through the whole year.

Building on existing zoning, the initiative opens for hotel, rorbuer, rental cabins, holiday homes, restaurant, café, wellness and activities. Preserving the character of the area and securing public access are equally part of the brief. Nothing has been approved, and the scope will be settled with the municipality. The architecture takes its cues from traditional fishing villages and historic building practice in Lofoten: modern in expression, but anchored in local identity, materials and landscape.

Sildpollnes chapel is one of the area's most important cultural assets. Dialogue with the church has already begun on how the grounds can be made more accessible and better suited to services, concerts, weddings and other events. Preserving the chapel and its role is a founding premise of the project.

The ambition is a place people in Lofoten are proud of, visited for a dinner, an event or a walk as readily as for a stay. The development should also mean employment and a broader tourism offer for the region.

Arctic Circle Group is developing the site. The people behind it also operate Lyngvær Lodges, and bring experience from property development, hospitality and tourism in Northern Norway.
