Henrik Rist started at Arctic Circle Hospitality, department Lofoten in November. He joins as a partner and member of the leadership group, alongside founder Oliver Bugten and Vebjørn Myhre, and takes over responsibility for all technical work in the company.
Henrik has spent the past two years as general manager of the largest property management company in Lofoten. He brings operational experience few in the region have, and a clear understanding of how the industry works. He also knows the portfolio well. Before Arctic Circle Hospitality was established, he managed many of the properties in the area, including Lyngvær Lodges, which the company manages today. His job now is to solve problems and secure the growth the company is experiencing.
“I was on my way out of the industry. What changed my mind was the ambition here. Arctic Circle Hospitality fills a gap in the market, with a product built for the high-end and premium segment rather than for volume. No one else in the region is close to the systems this organisation is built on. Technology is at the core of the operation, not added on afterwards. That is something I want to be part of building,” says Henrik Rist.
Arctic Circle Hospitality runs privately owned property the way a hotel runs its rooms. Rates and availability are set by a advanced systems, turnovers follow a protocol, and every property is inspected against the same checklist. Marketing, pricing, bookings, cleaning, maintenance and owner settlement all run on tools that have to work together, every day, across every property.

“We want to set a new standard for professionalism in this industry, for guests, for our employees and for property owners. That takes structure and systems, people who understand operations and the market, and technology that ties it together. Henrik knows this work from the inside, and he will play a key role in building what comes next,” says Oliver Bugten, co-founder of Arctic Circle Hospitality.
Henrik’s role covers three areas: the systems behind daily operations, so information moves without manual handovers; the chain from booking data to owner settlement, so the numbers are right the first time; and onboarding, where he leads the work of bringing new properties into the operation, from technical setup to the first guest. A new property should meet the same routines and standard as every other property from its first day.
For guests and owners, the hospitality team in Lofoten remains their point of contact. What changes is what sits behind it: fewer manual steps, clearer data, and more time for the people who meet guests.
The company has grown on the principle that quality has to be repeatable, not dependent on who is on shift. Bringing a CTO in as a partner applies the same principle to the company itself.
